Micron Laser Technology utilizes both ultraviolet and infrared lasers to produce permanent, non-contact markings without masks or stencils. Generally, no thermal or mechanical stresses are induced on the part while being marked. Vision alignment is utilized for the placement of the mark when close tolerances are required. Depending on material, a small pallet of color can be produced in the mark.

Our laser systems can provide an annealed mark (surface level) or depth mark/scribe (below surface with some material removal) on most metallic and non-metallic materials. Applications include aerospace anodized aluminum or black-oxide coated components with barcodes and logos; precise marks less than .001″ on silicon or quartz wafers; surface part numbers on medical instruments or scale/fill lines on medical disposables; and serialization of circuit boards and components.
Many industry and government marking standards have strict guidelines about for marking requirements like MIL-STD-130M for the military and SEMI M12/M13 for semiconductors. MLT laser markings meet these requirements without the need of ink and acid etching chemicals disposal.

CAD system integration and custom file converters enable flexible, laser manufacturing from customer-provided data. Although most file types are accepted, the preferred file types for laser marking are Gerber, DXF, or other 2D formats. When providing data for laser marking of logos or images the preferred format would be a vector format EPS, AI (Adobe Illustrator) or Corel Draw file. JPEGs and BMPs and other image formats are not preferred as additional programming charges may occur.
